Helmut-Sinzinger-Preis Ceremony

On October 15, 2025, the Helmut-Sinzinger-Preis was awarded at the Billrothhaus of the Society of Physicians in Vienna.
The annual prize honors outstanding Austrian research in the fields of lipid metabolism disorders, atherosclerosis, and advances in their diagnosis and treatment.

We are proud to share that our institute received two prizes this year!

The second place went to Silvia di Maio, PhD (Postdoc in the Computational Genomics group of Sebastian Schönherr) for her study on resolving genetic variation in medically relevant VNTRs.

The third place was awarded to Ida Gruber, PhD (former PhD student in the Statistical Genetics group of Claudia Lamina) for her research on lipoprotein(a) concentrations and cardiovascular disease in patients with chronic kidney disease.

More information (in German) can be found here.

Congratulations to Silvia and Ida!
