Silvia has been recognized with the Dr.-Otto-Seibert-Wissenschaftsförderpreis for her work on repetitive genomic regions (VNTRs) and their link to disease risk. The prize was awarded by Rector Gert Mayer and Vice-Rector Patrizia Stoitzner.

In her research, Silvia combines lab-based experiments with computational genomics to validate her models and plans to expand this approach to other clinically important genes, including those linked to chronic kidney disease.

Her next projects will be also supported by a grant from the Tiroler NachwuchsforscherInnenförderung, which provides funding for innovative early-career research projects. This grant will enable her to generate lab data to further validate computational models for predicting Lp(a) concentrations from VNTR lengths.
