Regeneron-funded project: MCPS Imputation Reference Panel
About
Genotype imputation uses whole genome sequence data from a reference panel to infer missing genotypes in much larger sets of array-typed samples. It facilitates meta-analysis and improves power and fine-mapping in genome-wide association studies. Imputation quality depends critically on the size of the reference panel and on the genetic similarity between the reference panel and the target samples.
This project is a subcontract with the University of Michigan, issued under Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (PIs: Sebastian Schönherr, Lukas Forer). Together with Christian Fuchsberger (Eurac Research), we make the whole genomes of the Mexico City Prospective Study (MCPS) available as an imputation reference panel on the Michigan Imputation Server.
The main tasks are:
- Integrating the MCPS panel into the Michigan Imputation Server.
- Implementing meta-imputation to combine MCPS with other reference panels.
- Evaluating imputation quality of the MCPS panel.
