Statistics Advanced for Non-Clinical PhD
Lecturer
- Claudia Lamina , PhD
Objective
Ability to plan and analyse models with advanced statistical methods, beyond the t-test.
Content
The lecture and exercises will be given in a hybrid version.
For this course, videos and a script was created and will be send beginning of October. Although lectures in presence are possible again, PhD students liked the possibility to watch the videos and do the exercises on their own, in their pace and the time they want.
In addition to the videos & script, there will be consultation hours in presence to clarify questions and help with the exercises.
Covered topics:
- Repetition of the most important statistical tests (t-test, Chi-square test and non-parametric tests like the Wilcoxon test)
- the multiple testing problem
- linear and logistic regression methods
- Survival analysis
- Repeated measures & longitudinal data analysis
We will use the statistical program R for statistical analysis and we will get to know some basic programming steps in R. Due to the mainly online self-learning modus this semester, students will have to install R and R-Studio on their own Laptops.
